This magnificent cemetery is located at a last stop, that of the #4 subway train. The shopping magnates, Macy, Penny and Woolworth, selected this as their final resting place. They built grand mausoleums here, designed by some of the world’s greatest architects. Many of these mausoleums are larger than New York apartments. As you walk along the paths and see the graves of Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington and other great musicians and artists, you can almost hear the glorious music.
