Tayyabs
I'll have the mixed meat grill to start, please

Many consider this place to be the best curry house in London. Winner of several awards, Tayyabs (or New Tayyabs as it likes to call itself) is based on an unprepossessing street in Whitechapel but is well worth seeking out. Be prepared for the fact that many chose to seek it out though - queues are long, although fast-moving. And remember these crucial words - "I'll have the mixed meat grill to start, please".

Kababs to die for

The lamb chops rock. Really one of the best meat experiences in London as Higgis says, if you like your meat nice and spicy and well-done. Don't wear leather jackets because the place has some wonderful food smells which may stick. When I went, there were no queues, but from what I hear that was an aberration - it usually is snaking out the door. Must go again soon.
Terrible

Once a great restaurant with outstanding food and average service, now this place is firmly on the map and is one of the worst places to eat in London. We arrived to find our booked table would not be ready for 20 minutes and were actually told to wait out in the rain until it was free. We were practically bullied into ordering after our waiter actually tried to order for us, were given the wrong food and treated like a huge inconvenience to the very rude staff. Packed, loud, rude and awful.
Lamb Chop Haven

It doesnt get better any where else in London. After being abused by Tikka Touts all over Central London.
You finally find this hardcore meat haven.. Must eat the lamb chops & kebabs. Worth the trek and price.
can be great

but make sure you have a dining plan B. My last 3 attempted visits ended in disappointment , long queue that puts you off. Agree, Wembley / Tooting can be better , but less atmosphere. Jug of Mango Lassi at Tayyab's a must !!
Well above average, if not the best

Been couple of times. The starters (mix grill of Punjabi cuisine) is excellent combined with buttered naan. However, the main course I would rate it just above average, unless you decide to take mix grill as the main course. The Kara hi lamb dish is good and can chosen with a side dish Aloo saag. The main course should be ordered after the starters has arrived, and not before then as its best eaten when its hot. Finally wash it down with mango lassi accompanied by rice pherni (a pudding).

Best lamb chops and chicken tikka I have had in all my years eating Indian food!
Not for me

Too busy, too rushed, too popular - leave it alone for a while and it might go back to what it used to be
Not bad

I have been here lots of times over the years as it is easily the best place to eat curry around Brick lane.
However despite tasty mixed grill starters, the mains are always disappointing, the service is always rushed and the staff are often rude.
For better and more authentic Indian food, head to Tooting, Wembley or West of London. It's cheaper and much better quality!
Love it

The stuff of legend

On a wet Tuesday in February people queue out the door for this place. I'm a total evangelist. Incredible food, superb atmosphere and super cheap. Dry meat is good but the dish of the gods is masala fish. Never eaten anything better before or since.
Dry meat for me please, oh and...

the delicious pakistani style onion bhajis that come in a tray of bits served from the canteen style area in the back. This is the most interesting curry in town in my very humble opinion. Alexis introduced me to dry meat actually!
A rough gem

This is definitely the best curry house in London town.
An Indian friend took me there which meant it had to be great...and oh boy wasn't it A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ?!? Best food I've ever had and sooooo surprisingly cheap
Definitely a rough diamond lost within the obscure streets of East London, I am quite lucky to live very close to it ....give me a shout if you wanna go! hehe

Quite simply, the best meat experience in London. Make sure you get the mixed meat grill and the dry meat. Plus, the baby pumpkin curry is sensational. It's well worth the (sometimes) lengthy wait.

Awesome.
Its a true experience this place. Amazing food, better than anywhere else I've had in London. I took some friends there recently who were visiting London and it was perfect. Its an experience you'll get nowhere else.
Not to mention its excellent value for money. We ordered lots and lots for 3 people, and the entire bill was less than £45! And you can bring your booze. Its super. Just make sure to reserve at least a day in advance.
